Former Mayor Barry and her boy toy causing “grave” issues.

The political stage in Tennessee’s 7th district is about to witness a brawl more entertaining than a honky-tonk brawl on a Saturday night. In one corner, we have the phoenix rising from the ashes, Megan Barry, the former mayor whose tenure was more soap opera than policy wonk. In the other, the iron fist of Dr. Mark Green, the military man whose past is as checkered as a Civil War battlefield.

“From Mayor to More?” Barry’s campaign slogan is a cryptic riddle, leaving voters wondering just what “more” she has in store. Is it more headlines? More controversies? Or perhaps, more sequels to her dramatic exit from City Hall?

Meanwhile in Barry’s campaign office we hear her screaming “Oh, Mark! Oh, Mark”! She must be watching ER reruns, right?

Meanwhile, Green’s motto, “Green Means Go,” suggests a “take no prisoners” approach. Is it a nod to his military background, or a subtle jab at his opponents who might question his “amber light” moments in the political arena?

The Debate Debacle: The first face-off between these two titans is a verbal slugfest. Barry, a born orator, takes the offensive, painting Green as a dinosaur stuck in the past. “We need a leader who doesn’t just talk about the good old days,” she declares, a sly dig at Green’s military career.

Green, no pushover himself, counters by dredging up Barry’s past. “Enough drama,” he asserts, shaking his head. “It’s time for stability.” Talk about burying the hatchet…with a bazooka.

Skeletons in the Closet: As the campaign intensifies, past misdeeds come crawling out of the woodwork like cockroaches at a barbecue. Barry’s extramarital affair and Green’s controversial comments about the LGBT community become fodder for attack ads and late-night talk show jokes.

The Propaganda Blitz: TV ads bombard viewers, each candidate vying for the title of “Most Creative Spin Doctor.” Barry’s ads are like a self-help book on resilience, featuring phoenixes, rising suns, and a voiceover that sounds suspiciously like Oprah. Green’s campaign takes a more military-inspired approach, showcasing his medals and portraying him as a battle-hardened warrior ready to conquer the political realm.

Decision Day Approaches: As the election draws near, the city is divided. Some see Barry as an inspiration, a woman who bounced back from scandal. Others see Green as a pillar of strength, a man who can weather any political storm.

Only the voters of Tennessee’s 7th district can decide who will emerge victorious in this political circus. Will it be the phoenix rising from the ashes, or the iron fist of the military man? Buckle up, folks, because the Battle of the Beltway is about to get wild!
